Home sweet Home – Holiday in the southern Burgenland

Three weeks after my China Trip – it was time to pack my bags again. This time – I just needed my handluggage. Manuel and I spent a couple of days in the southern Burgernland, which was wonderful. You know how much I love to travel to other countries, but I also love to spend a holiday here at home. Just tuning out and enjoyung nature. Austria has so many things to enjoy – this time I visited the idyllic southern Burgernland.

Why here? Since my childhood this area is the number 1 for holidays, which is why I’m really happy about the cooperation with Urlaub am Bauernhof and Sonnengartl. Far away from all the hustle – you can enjoy your holiday on the countryside as well as the wonderful cuisine. Finally I was able to take me time and to things that I don’t get to at home. I want to tell you about my holiday in the southern Burgenland.

You can also win a trip – you have to order a free catalougue (either from “Urlaub am Bauernhof” or “Urlaub am Winzerhof”). Among all the participants – the winner will be drawn. You can win a weekend for two people. The Giveaway will end on the 27.08 at 12pm. If you have any special requests, click HERE.

Disclaimer: Thank you very much to the team of “Urlaub am Bauernhof” for this great cooperation! Thanks to businesses of Sonnengartl for your hospitality.  The opinion stated in my blogpost are 100% my own.

Holiday in the southern Burgenland

My detailed travelpost

» The Accomodation:   » Landhofmühle in Minihof-Liebau

We stayed at the wonderful and idyllic Landhofmühle of Familie Fartek. The old farm was renovated and the garden is very welcoming. Every room is furnished rustically and smells of wood.

The breakfast, which is prepared by Claudia and Franz each morning was wonderful! Tons of yummy dishes with products from the garden or the farm nearby. With every bite you could taste the freshness of these regional products. All the delicacies are served in little glasses and plates, warm to cold, sweet and sour, vegetarian, vegan, glutenfree – there’s something for everyone. The atmosphere in the garden is unmatched. Claudia and Franz will always look out for the guests.

I was really blown away by the beautiful garden! Tons of flowers and herbs grow here – you can see a lot of bees, butterflies and dragonflies. It was fantastic to enjoy the peace. I could just stay here for hours to find some inspiration for my future garden. And what you can’t miss – the sweet kitten. The cat just wandered around all day and enjoyed the weather as well.

» Sonnengartl:  What and who is this?

The Sonnengartl association exists since 14 years. It’s a merger of 10 wonderful and unique “Urlaub am Bauernhof”-hosts and businesses such as a riding school, a restaurant and an oil mill. These companies surround the Minihof-Liebau and you can get there by bike. You can find all the companies we visited below – and you can find more information HERE.

» Culinary and Sport:   Our Weekendprogramme

On our trip we took some time off for a bike tour. Enjoying nature wie an E-Bike! It was the first time for us. Riding a E-Bike was really handy! You can explore the ares without sweating too much!

Franz – the landlord accompanied us through the day and showed us everything – he was a wonderful guide and a really good photographer! The area is reall beautiful and very idyllic with all the vines, forests and the hills. This tour is wonderful for families with children as well. The yards cover different ranges and you can learn about traditional and family life.

Next to homemade herblemonade, grape – and applejuice, you can also have liquors, regional wine and delicious sausage specialties, different cheeses and rustic bread. You’d get fresh veggies and salads from the garden as well. Our hosts served us very well and we tried everything. If you get so much good and homemade food, you’d have to try everything!

On friday evening we had dinner at Schmankerlwirt Sampl. I had a pumpkin cream soup as a starter and a chanterelle goulash with bread dumplings as a main course – the mushrooms were the best I’ve had for a long time. Manuel ordered an onion roast joint with potatoes and he was also thrilled. I can really recommend this restaurant to you. If you ever come here, you have to visit.

This trip was very special and important for me because I’ve already spent a lot of very special moments her with my family. I also think that it’s important to not always only visit huge and luxurious hotel. Weekends like these are wonderful to get out of a stressful daily life. You know I’m really a rube – so this weekend was perfect for me. The best things was – the mobile coverage was really bad in the middle of the forest – a real quality time.

At the end we baked a yummy potatoe and apple strudel with Christine & Roland. Afterwards we enjoyed wine and long talks together. The holiday on this farm was really important to me because I wanted to take part in maintaining the traditions of the austrian agriculture and handicraft. I already enjoyed it here, when I was a child and visited with my parents and grandparents.
