Hi guys! As I promised, this is my second post about the wonderful Tongsai Bay on Koh Samui. If you missed my Hotel Review about Tongsai Bay, click HERE. You can read about the hotel and take a look at tons of pictures. Todays post is about sustainability and the Green Policy of the Hotel. Since I was thrilled by this topic I wanted to tell you more about it in a separate post. On the website of the hotel and Green Pearls, I found a lot of information about this topic. The hotel is not only beautiful, with excellent service, the employees are also really into environment protection, which makes the Tongsai Bay into one of the best hotels on Koh Samui.

The Tongsai GREEN PROJECTS MANAGER

The Tongsai Bay is an accredited Green Leaf Resort and has its own Green Projects Manager, who is responsible for coordinating all environmental projects of the resort. Jul, the GPM conducts trainings, develops the green system of the resort and works on more core processes to protect the environment. It didn’t start now, but already when the resort was designed and built in 1987. Right in the beginning no tree was felled. Some of the cottages do have distinctive traits. Some cottages are built around big strong trees.

Human & Animal IN SYNC

What we really liked was the fact, that the employees were not allowed to fell trees or harm animals. Dead animals, that are found at the resort will be examined post mortem by a veterinarian to ensure that the animal died without external influence, but by a natural cause. In July 2012 the Animal & Nature Protection Group to protect animals and the nature was founded. Thanks to the commitment of the employees, they were able to plant 130 trees next to the property. The garden team cares for them each week.

Waste separation is a big topic as well! The whole trash is separated in different categories (metal, glass, paper, plastic, hazardous waste etc.) everywhere in the resort. Leftover food, leaves and twigs are brought to the bio garden and processed to fertiliser. Waste is reduced and recyclable material is produced. Chemicals are reduced and swapped with environmentally friendly materials.

The Tongsai Bay takes care about the nature and all the animals living in the resort. Every employee of the resort is very commited and works very professional. It makes this place so unique – not only the great location, the clear water or the warm sun, but also the people living in sync with nature and work to achieve a great goal.
