Bangkok Tour with HiveSters – Experience the real Bangkok

Okay, I think this is the hardest blogpost I’ve ever written. Why hard? Because it’s not easy for me to describe these wonderful experiences and situations. The tour I experienced in Bangkok with the organisation HiveSters, was something I’ll never forget again. I told my grandma about the trip and said „Grandma, when I’m at your age, I’ll tell my grandchildren about this trip like I told you now. “ She smiled and I think she understood how wonderful the time in Bangkok was.

Information about the organisation HiveSters

and how I found this Tour

My Contact AT GREEN PEARLS

I think I have to give this a little more detail. Prior to my trip, I contacted the agency Green Pearls. Thanks to Green Pearls I got my attention to HiveSters. A detail about Green Pearls: Just like the name implies – this agency represents Resorts and Hotels that support sustainability while traveling. Because more and more people attach importance to sustainability. It’s great to travel and to do something good for your environment.

HiveSters has been founded by Achi two years ago and is an organisation which offers tours in and around Bangkok and is known for real thai travel experiences. HiveSters also attaches importance to sustainability. Every tour you can book is different from the typical tourism offers. What you can book at HiveSters – is really an unique memory, which you’ve never experienced on a trip to Thailand or Bangkok before. Each person out of the whole team tries their best to make you have the „amazing local experiences“. And exactly these experiences with the locals, directly in their home, the nature, made our tour so unique. Important Information: HiveSters does not promote tours in which animals (e.g. elephants) are hurt or imprisoned. At HiveSters you will only get to know the REAL Bangkok and the daily life of the people.

Our Tour: Craft from Nature

in Koh Sarn Chao

We decided for the Tour Craft from Nature in Koh Sarn Chao. This was recommended by Achi and we relied on her before booking the tour. You can find Information about the prices of the tours on the website. I can tell you one thing – the tour we did was worth every cent! On our next Thailandtrip (which we will book soon) we will book another tour!

HiveSters Tourdescription

Everything worked out really easy. After booking the tour, you will receive a confirmation in which you get all important Information including detailed instructions on how to get to the meeting point as well as the items you should bring and how you should dress. You will be well prepared don’t worry. We took the Metro directly to the meeting point and were welcomed by the HiveSters Girls at the exit. We took a cab and drove to the neighborhood (Community) Koh Sarn Chao.

First we visited the Champa Temple which was built 200 years ago. This temple was different from other temples that you can visit in Thailand – it was decorated with porcelain. You can see beautiful porcelain plates on the roof and on the walls. Oh and I already told you about the unbelievable experience with the monk on Facebook. If you missed the post, you can read it here.

Our Tour away from the wild hustle in Bangkok

While we stood in front of the temple and the history explained, a buddhist monk, all in orange, came to us. I was really thrilled because I really admire these religious monks. Manuel took the camera and the monk stopped to talk to me. He asked me where I’m from and what I’m doing here, and if I like his home – Thailand. I was overwhelmed and when he moved on talking about his rituals, I was so excited! The picture which resulted here, is my favorite from the whole trip.

Afterwards we strolled through the Community and visited the neighborhood with all the sweet traditional thai houses and huts, as well as the river – we also took a little boat to paddle on the river. The environment is so overwhelming beautiful and impressing!! You can’t believe that this is still Bangkok.

You will get to know the wonderful hospitality of Thais on this tour!

The next Stop was at the house of a very nice lady. We crafted wonderful traditional fragrant thai garlands. These garlands are called „Pang Puana“. They are crafted for decorating home or hair accessories. The perfumed powder is also used for the face. Maybe you’ve seen this in Thailand. If you wondered why the women’s faces look so white, you now know that it’s thai powder.

While we let our garlands there for drying, we took a stroll through the neighborhood again. We got served a yummy lunch and then we baked a banana cake with Grandma. You have to imagine, all this happens at the people’s home. In the houses of their neighborhood. I can’t describe how beautiful this was and how lovely we were welcomed. Everyone looked after us – not only the tour guides from HiveSters Achi, Mint, but also everyone in their Community. We really felt well.

I will think back to baking this cake with lovely grandma years later.

Baking the banana cake was an unbelievable experience. Grandma was so nice and she was so happy about our visit. I can’t even tell you how it felt. It was indescribeable. Sitting on her terrace, baking cake and laughing even though we speak different languages. It was an experience very engraving. When she took my hand and told Ach, that I am such a beautiful girl and that she used to have wonderful skin like me, I couldn’t hold back my tears (just like now). This was so heartwarming…

If you ever come to Thailand, please book a tour at HiveSters. I can guarantee you that you will love this experience and will never forget it. The whole team, as well as the community, works on a good thing which should be supported. Believe me, you won’t regret booking this tour.

The Tour evolved and became better and better. After baking with Grandma – saying goodbye was very hard btw.- we had a paddletour on the river. Even house has access to the river. There is no direct street to this neighborhood from Bangkok. Even the mailman has to bring the mail with the boat (see in the pictures). The whole environment is breathtaking. You really feel like you’re in Narnia. Most of the villagers sit on their terrace, do their laundry or pray at their altar. All in all the tour was magnificent and 250 % authentic, honest, heartwarming and recommendable!!!

I don’t know, if I was able to transfer the feelings I had into this blogpost. It was an adventure that I’ve never want to miss again. That’s why I will book another toor on our next trip at HiveSters as well. You can support the „real“ Thailand as well as the wonderful people you meet there. Because of that HiveSters started the project APPEAR. A project aiming to change the travel industry in Thailand. So that the tradition and the real thailandic community life won’t be forgotten. You really have to take a look at the video. You can also see grandma and the river and how the garlands are crafted.

I know I’ve already written a lot but I want to thank Katja from Green Pearls again. Thank you Katja and Thailand Tourism for drawing my attention to this great organisation and thank you Achi for this great tour as well as for the hospitality. I hope, I can tell as many people as possible about your great organisation and tours. We will see each other again on our next Thailandtrip! Thank you for all the goosebumps moments. ♥
