What does a vacationto Santorini cost? That’s the question everyone asks after seeing the pictures online. What price do you have to pay for a holiday in paradise? Holiday on Santorini
Flight: We booked the flight from Vienna to Thira (international Airport in Santorini) on March 4, 2016 – 3 months ahead. Normally I book earlier, but the offers didn’t really change. Here our details:

Total price for the flights: 633.90 Euro
Price per Person: 316.95 Euro
We booked a car on the May 21, 2016– 2 days ahead online on the German website “billigermietwagen.“ You can find the best offers here. We chose a Hyundai i10, but when we arrived at the airport they told us, that they don’t have a Hyundai anymore.
We got a Smart Car instead, which shocked me at first „How am I supposed to fit all my suitcases? “We won’t have enough space!“ “How uncool and uncomfortable is this?“ He told us that a Smart Car would normally cost more, because of the engine and the automatic gear shift. Well we tried – and thank god we didn’t get a Hyundai!!!! I recommend booking a Smart Car anyways!!!!! Every second car on the island is a Smar Cart! Trust me, with a Hyundai, we’d have problems parking and the narrow streets are complicated to navigate. The automatic gears were also good.
Since we got a free upgrade and everything fit well, I was really happy. The prices below are for the Hyundai reservation and not for the Smart Car. With a full tank and refueling once for 20€, our gas lasted for the whole week. We explored the island and beaches. You should try it as well!

Oia: As you might know, we spent 2 nights in Oia. I found the Amaya Villa through booking.com (my Blogpost is here). I can recommend it to you. The prices are great (there are hotels nearby charging 3 times more.) The only disadvantage: it’s an apartment without breakfast. However, there are supermarkets nearby!

Imerovigli: After 2 Nights, we left for Imerovigli to the Sophia Luxury Suites (my Blogpost is here). We were invited by the Sophia Suites. It was a cooperation and I didn’t have to pay to stay. Without a cooperation, I wouldn’t be able to afford it. I was really thankful!!

As you can see the hotel is very luxurious and expensive. It costs 630 Euro per night and 315 Euro per Person. This is very luxurios. I linked some alternatives below.

Wichtig:
1. The price for the first hotel is relatively high as well. I can understand if some can not afford this. It was important for us to spend some time Oia if we’re visiting Santorini and to have a great Hotel/Apartment with a pool and wonderful view.
2. I want to thank Theodor for the great cooperation. I was really happy to be welcomed by the Sophia Suites. The stay was unique and unforgettable! If you plan a honeymoon and you don’t want to go very far away, I can totally recommend this hotel to you!
As mentioned above, we only had lodging at the first location. So we made our own breakfast or went to a cafe. We decided to go to a café. The breakfast was included in the second hotel – we skipped lunch and only ate dinner. We spend around 35-50 Euro every day on food, which includes dinner for two as well as snacks and coffee. Enough for a whole day. Most of the time we ate relatively cheaply. There are a lot of restaurants where you can pay up to 45-60 Euro.

We saved a lot of money on food, although I had fresh fish every day. Just watch the prices.

We didn’t book a lot of daytrips in our holiday. Most things were free anyway (beaches, mountains.)

I’m excited about your comments. You can see that Santorini is not really that cheap. You can save with the rental car and the food, but a good hotel with a nice view is very expensive. We found hotels on Booking.com, which cost 1,300 EUR per night – unbelievable right? The cheap hotels are always fully booked. Santorini is really popular internationally.

The trip cost 746.18 EUR per Person in total!
Total 1492,37 EUR
If we had to pay the second Hotel on our own (which is too expensive for me), it would have been 4,012.37 Euro in total. That’s 2006 Euro per Person, nearly 1260 Euro more. What a difference! I wonder how many young people were on the island despite the prices.
