Holiday on Koh Chang – 10 Things to Do!

1. White Sand Beach Shopping
We visited the white sand beach only twice, but found tons of things. I found this t-shirt  HERE  at one of their booths. Most of the booths sell the same products, but there are a few unique finds. It’s perfect for those who like printed tank tops or beach bags out of straw. You can also find joss sticks, cremes, necklaces, and so on. One guys also sold potato chips from the super market. :D

2. Elefant Trekking in Ban Kwan Chang Camp
Koh Chang means elephant island (Koh=Island, Chang=Elephant). Most of the camps here are in bad condition – just like their elephants. Please read THIS  post about Ban Kwan Chang Camp, which I can recommend 100%. You should go there if you’re looking to do a trekking tour on Koh Chang.

3. Cooking School at Blue Lagoon
We stayed near a cooking school, but we didn’t participate. I found good reviews on the school and was was able to get a look though as well.

4. Bang Bao Pier
The pier is located on the south of the island. Getting there is an adventure. It’s such a cute harbour city. One restaurant after the other and fishmarkets everywhere. For those who love seafood, this place is perfect for taking a walk and eating some really good, fresh food.

5. Snorkeling Trip with Thaifun to Koh Rang
It’s best if you book the Full Day Trip at Thaifun. It’s a little bit more expensive but worth every cent. The crew is top notch and the food was great. Look at the pictures! We visited three snorkelling stops and monkey island. We visited the monkeys and fed them fruit. The reef was awesome and there were tons of fish.

6. Classic Thai Massage
Yeah, I nearly forgot this. A massage is super cheap (one hour costs about 250-400THB; ~ 6-9,5€) and is really relaxing. The masseuses use a special oil. I couldn’t recognize the fragrance, but all the massage stations had this great scent. Besides the classic massage, you can also get a face massage, full body, classic oil, and lots of other kinds.

7. Visit the Waterfal (we preferred the Nang Yom Waterfall)
We had to visit the waterfalls as well. Since we liked the north of the island so much, we decided to take a look at a waterfall here. It was only 10 minutes away from the elephant camp. If you are scared of spiders, scorpions, crabs and don’t want to cross the jungle, then this isn’t for you. We were hiking through everything. 100% Adventure. We saw huge spiders and other insects that I can’t even identify. Standing in front of the waterfall and jumping into the water – wow! What a great feeling!

8. Dinner at Tonsai Restaurant at Klong Prao
We visited Klong Prao nearly everyday. It’s not as crowded as White Sand Beach, but you will find everything you need. Restaurants, pharmacies, banks, supermarkets, junk shops, bars and cafes, fruit- fish- juice- and pancake booths. The best restaurant we tried in the three weeks we were here was the Tonsai Restaurant next to the Centara Tropicana Hotel. Tonsai is an Open-Air Restaurant in the typical Thai Style. You will be served a bowl of banana chips as a starter. The prices are great and the food is yummy. One time I was craving pasta (you know what I like to eat) and the spaghetti Pomodoro and penne arrabiata were incredibly yummy. If you’re craving Thai food, the noodle soup with veggies and chicken were great, as well as the fried noodles and the curries.

9. Go try the Roti on the Streets of Thailand ♥
As you already saw on Instagram, I’m addicted. These pancakes are called roti in Thailand, but they’re entirely different from those you already know. You can find the recipe HERE. I’ve never tasted something this great before! This is my new favorite dessert. You can find this dessert nearly everywhere. I like them best with chocolate sauce and pineapple or chocolate sauce and strawberries.

10. Holiday Koh Chang – Come back next year ;-)
We’re really in love with this island. I never imagined that this holiday would be this great. For everyone wanting to visit Thailand without visiting the main tourist spots, Koh Chang is great! Secluded, quiet and really special. I was really scared the day I booked the trip, because we were so in love with the Maldives. If I had to decide between those two now, I’d choose Thailand. You have to experience this.
