I can’t believe it, but this was two weeks ago. I was in Zurich from September 15-16 to see the Junkers F13’ve been to Zurich. From the 15. To the 16. September everything was about the Junkers F13 – A Legend Awakening. Thanks to Dieter Morszeck, I was there! You can read everything about it here. It was a sensational event!

» Thursday:  Get-Together, First flight of the Junkers F13 & Gala Dinner

My alarm went of at 6 on Thursday morning. I was really excited for the RIMOWA. I went to the airport at 7am with my new RIMOWA suitcase. I was looking forward to meet Julia from BBPR and Kerstin from Miss Getaway. After a 55 Minute flight, we were in Zurich. They picked us up and brought us to the hotel.

When we arrived at the hotel, we checked in and went in our room to prepare for the event. At 3 PM, the shuttle brought us to the airport in Dübendorf. Here we saw Dieter Morszeck – CEO of RIMOWA – taking off. His team worked for 7 years on Junkers F13. There was a great presentation about the development of the Junkers F13. This airplane is the first and only airplane like this. There were a lot of journalists, television stations, PR agencies, and bloggers.

Mr. Dieter Morszeck – a business man with dreams!

I can’t tell you how exciting it was when Mr. Dieter Morszeck marched to the airplane. He didn’t look like the business man he was anymore, he looked like a man with a dream. He looked happy. I had goosebumps and I hoped that everything went well. Everyone wanted to be in the first row. Hundreds of photographers waited for the start. And then the moment was there. The Junkers F13 started! Insane! Everyone applauded, and smiled at the pioneer above. Mr. Dieter Morszeck smiled with his whole face.

After some exciting hours, it was time for the Gala Dinner. Despite the Great Gatsby ambience at the whole airport, the dinner was in Hangar 9 – directly in the hangar – there was also a odel! Everything looked great. I’ve never seen anything like this before. I took pictures oft he yummy dinner and the location. Hans-Walter Bender, a 93-year old contemporary witness was also there. He flew one of the first Junkers F13 back in 1929. The 30 minute flight was a formative event: “This was the most modern technique available.“ He brought a present to the CEO Mr. Morszeck – a picture of him entering a airplane and a copy of his pilot’s licence from back then.!

» Friday: Flight with the Junkers 52 over the Alps

We went to bed very late on Thursday but sleeping wasn’t possible. Another long and exciting day was awaiting. This was our day. We flew with the Junkers 52 over the alps!! I was so excited. I have to admit that I was also scared. We were one of the firsts to enjoy this. The captain started the machine – I thought that the plane would explode. Either on the runway or in the air. Since the machine is only made of metal, it was really loud. OMG!

And then it started. I wonder how high my pulse was at this moment. I was so excited, that I couldn’t talk at all. You don’t sit in this plane everyday! And then we were in the air and my endorphines flooded my body. Even tons of chocolate couldn’t make me feel this good, I was so happy!! Right now I’m typing this and I still can’t believe it. Damn it – this was one of my best days ever!

The time flew and yet our 30-minute flight felt very long. Kerstin was excited as well and filmed everything. After the flight, I had to sit down a little to realize what happened. Sensory Overload. I think some of you saw my Instagram Story (oops – sorry for the mega spam) and saw how exciting and well organized the event was! Thank you RIMOWA for the invitation.
