What Does a Trip to Amsterdam Cost? – Detailed Cost Lineup

What does a trip to Amsterdam cost? Last year after Christmas,I was able to get a great deal with 3 of my friends. We found a super cheap flight to Amsterdam. We also wanted to save some money on a hotel, so we did some research. I want to show you with my holiday calculator posts that travelling does not have to be super expensive. Since the prices change a lot, you just have to be well organised. You can go on a holiday for a good price as well. You can find a lot of travel tips on my blog to plan everything beforehand.

Flight: The flight from Vienna to Amsterdam was booked 2 months beforehand. Wefound this great deal on Urlaubsguru and booked it directly.

  • Vienna – Amsterdam
  • Amsterdam – Vienna

We paid €49 round-trip each. Since you have to check-In online a week earlier anyway with EasyJet, we didn’t have to make a reservation for the seats. You can find great deals on Urlaubsguru or Urlaubspirat.

Price per Person: 49,00 Euro

Amsterdam: While being in Amsterdam we stayed at the WestCord Fashion Hotel Amsterdam (you can find my blogpost here). The hotel is not in the center, but you have a great connection into the city. You just have to walk 5 Minutes to the next trainstation and it takes about 15 Minutes to get into the city. I can definitely recommend this hotel to you.

Total Price per Person: 188,25 Euro
Price per night: 62,75 Euro

Important:
We only booked lodging with breakfast.

From the airport to the hotel: A ticket from the airport to the hotel cost 4.00 Euro.

In Amsterdam: We also bought a 72 hours Amsterdam Ticket. We used it the whole time and to return to the airport. The card costs 25.00 Euro.

Preis per Person: 29,00 Euro

  • Since we arrived late on Friday, we ate some snacks in the Skybar. Cost: 10 Euro.
  • On Saturday, we had breakfast in the hotel and then we had some food in the Hard Rock Café. I ordered Twisted Mac & Cheese and an ice-tea for 13 Euro. After our sightseeing, We had dinner at an italian place near our hotel. I ate pasta, bread and soda water for 16 Euro.
  • On Sunday, we also had breakfast at the hotel. If you did not read my blogpost about the hotel yet, you should definitively take a look. The hotel was really great and we loved the breakfast. On Sunday, we found a great bakery and I ate really tasty Churros with coffee for 6 Euro. For dinner, we went to a pizza place (we love pizza and pasta– obviously) and I paid 13 Euro for Pizza and ice-tea. Then, we spent around 10 Euro for sweets.
  • On Monday we just went into the city for breakfast. I just had some coffee for 4 Euro.

Price per Person: 72 Euro

We also did a real tourist program. I listed all our entry fees below. A lot of places like the red light district, the Vondelparc, the street markets or he flower market, shopping malls, the town hall and the train station are free.

»Canal Ride: 16,00 Euro
»Madame Tussauds & Amsterdam Dungeon combination ticket: Kombiticket um 32,00 Euro
»Sex Museum: 4,00 Euro
»Abraxas Space Cake: 6,00 Euro

——————————————————————
Price per Person: 58,00 Euro

As you can see a city trip like this does not have to be very expensive. A lot of sights are free. I spent more than usual for food. Normally I’m eating once a day, but the price is alright, don’t you think? You could spent much more for sightseeing, for example if we entered the Anne Frank House or if we visited the Van Gogh Museum. But since the Anne Frank House was way too full and the museum did not really interest us, we skipped both.

»Total Costs of the trip: All costs summarized

Our holiday in Amsterdam cost 396.25 EUR per person in total!
