10 Things that could happen, if you start blogging

I’ve read about a log of bloggers who get started while living abroad. That wasn’t not the case for me. My answer is: I’m blogging because I want to gain and share experiences about fashion and travelling. I want to inspire and learn from other people to keep growing. Today I want to tell you what could happen if you start a blog.

  • 1. You’ll get addicted to your blog.
It sounds ridiculous, but it’s true. If you don’t like what you’re blogging about, you’re doing it wrong. You either haven’t found your passion yet or you started your blog for the wrong reasons. In the beginning, some people might focus too much on their statistics, which distracts you from the important things – the joy of writing, taking pictures and creating content. I try to focus on my blog, even if it’s hard sometimes.

  • 2. You get blog post ideas at random times
For example, when you’re on the toilet or showering. When you’re cooking and you can’t leave the stove. Or in a meeting with your boss or in the middle of the night, when you’re having trouble sleeping. That’s why you should always have something on hand to write down your thoughts. Try to write it down immediately, so that you won’t forget it.

  • 3. You’ll think about success overnight.
You can’t be the next Chiara Ferragni overnight. That’s unrealistic. It would mean that you’d get 1,000,000 readers overnight. Rome wasn’t build in one day either. Instead of dreaming, you need to set attainable goals. It’s much more motivating

  • 4. You’ll be unhappy…
if you try to be someone else. ALWAYS BE YOURSELF. It’s no use to pretend to be someone else. It doesn’t work either. You have to be yourself and find your place.

  • 5. You’re unhappy with yourself and your blog, because you compare yourself with the big shots.
Some may think that the other’s success came without work but that’s simply not true. Everybody with a blog works hard. You’re not the only one working on one post for hours. I try to stay realisitic in my posts and find topics that interest you. I could also borrow some designer clothes and shoot the looks all the time, but that doesn’t work for me and you. Don’t compare yourself to the successful, full-Time bloggers. Their cooperations are huge, their income is higher – that’s all.

  • 6. You’re working on your blog every free minute
You may work on your layout, a blog post, a cooperation or whatever. There is always something to do.  Bloggers are photographers, editors, marketing managers, art directors, and accountants in one. There is always work to be done.

  • 7. You have to explain yourself all the time
Most people aren’t involved with blogging. Therefore, a lot of people will ask you about it. Why you started blogging, what you are doing, and how much you earn from it.

  • 8. You learn to budget your smartphone battery
Sometimes you forget your battery charger and then you have to get through the day without your battery dying before you get home. Sometimes, I tried to regulate the brightness of my phone screen or to use airplane mode just to save my battery.

  • 9. You’re shopping less.
That’s the case for me and some of my blogger friends. When you’ve been blogging for a while, some corporations might send you products to use and review. I’ve been shopping less since then. Can you confirm this?

  • 10. You have to deal with finances and taxes.
When you start earning money with your blog, you have to file a business and do your taxes by the end of the year. It’s annoying. I’m lucky to have a really nice person helping me with this. If you’re blogging yourself, you might receive cooperation requests as well. It’s worth asking a local office for help. Filing a business for your blog is not as complicated as it may sound.
