The best VPN for China 2017

Using a VPN-Connection is the fastest and safest way to avoid chinese censorship of the internet.

As you might know there are some websites which are blocked in China such as Facebook or auch Gmail, Instagram or even Youtube. But to stay in contact with friends and family when on holiday – you can surf with VPN. What that is and how it works, as well as which ons is the best VPN connection will be explained in this blogpost. If you have questions – feel free to ask them.

Best VPN Connection for China

How to connect to Facebook & Co

» 1. VPN –  What exactly is that?

In China you have to use a VPN Tool, because the government has very strict regulations about the internet. Platforms like Facebook, Google and a lot more are blocked to support their own webserviced such as WeChat. It’s very easy with a VPN Tool. VPN means Virtual Private Network and it generates a secure and protected connection. You can use it from home to access books from university or to access work from home. All this also works in China – your smartphone or Laptop generates a connection to a Server somewhere in the world – it works like a redirection.

» 2. Best VPN Service – which I also used

I downloaded “Express VPN” for my trip to China. I used this Service for my whole trip without any problems. I decided for the 12 Dollar per months version to have really good connection. I was not once disconnected in the whole week I was in China. Investing the 12 Dollars was a really good decision (although it’s a lot for one week) – I can recommend it to anyone. You can just pay via PayPal.

» 3. Installation and Use – It works so easy

Installing it is really easy. You should get the App for your Smartphone or Laptop prior to your Trip. You can read the instructions on the website of Express VPN. I ordered the payversion on my Laptop and typed in the Code I got into my phone. So I was able to surf the internet for on month without worrying. It’s important to install the app prior to your trip. Using it is very easy – just use the power button on your screen and than it should be ready.

» 4. Free VPN – Which Alternatives are there?

There are also a lot of free VpN services. You can also use Express VPN for free – but I heard that the internet would be slow and that the connection gets lost a lot, which is why I decided for the paying-version to avoid stress in China. People recommended Express VPN, VPN Proxy and SurfEasy VPN to me.

» 5. My Conclusion   Always have a backup plan

If you plan a longer stay in China you’d probably need a Fee based VPN tunnel. But to have a backup plan you should also Install the free Versions as well (the above mentionend are supposed to be very good, but if you have other tipps, just tell me). The feebased VPNs are more reliable, but it’s also possible that they won’t connect – even if you payed for it. So it’s recommended to have a back up plan.
