All the products below can be replaced and bought nearly everywhere around the world. You should rather concentrate on your documents – don’t forget your passport or your tickets!

  • The right bag

you choose your bad depending on your destination. Below you can find my personal recommendations:

  • Backpack
A backpack is perfect for backpacking (…obviously, right?). In special stores you can find huge backpacks with enough space to fit electronics as well. I never travelled with a backpack so far. My boyfriend uses the Eastpak Business Rucksack.

  • Tote Bag
These bags are good for short flights. I often use my Jet Set Tote by Michael Kors. Most totes are really big, so you can store a lot of things.
  • Liquid containers
I can recommend the transparent Cosmeticbag by R.Horns Vienna.

  • Hard shell case with TSA Combinationlock
My suitcase is tough but light. The brand is called Hauptstadtkoffer and the line is called “Alex”. My case survived a lot by now. I bought it as a Magenta Highgloss Set. The TSA lock is interesting for travels to the United States, because the security can open it without destroying it.

  • Important sleeping items

Most airlines will distribute pillows and blankets, but I prefer my own.

  • Sleeping mask
The sleeping mask is a must have for long distance flights. You shouldn’t buy it online, because most of the masks come in a size that may not fit. Take a look in your local drugstore and try it on.

  • Neck cushion
I already forgot mine at home – so I bought a new one in the duty free shop. That neck cushion was horrible, my neck started hurting so much. I’d rather use my own pillow which is filled with Microperls.

  • Cozy socks
Often it’s really cold on airplanes – so I always have an extra pair of socks with me. After dinner on board, I always get rid of my shoes and slip into my socks. I like these.

  • Earplugs
Not only for the plane – I also wear earplugs when I am not sleeping at home. When I was on holiday in the Maldives, our bungalow was next to a waterjet pier, which is really noisy in the morning. These Ohropax saved my holidays.

  • Killing time

Flying can be boring. Here are some ideas to distract yourself.

  • Tablet / Phone
You should not forget to bring your phone while travelling. As well as your tablet if you have one. Sometimes I check my emails and save the answers for later. I also like to blog on the plane as well. You can also download some games in the appstore. You can read about the best travelapps here

  • A good Book
You can download books to your tablet – find some at Libro, Müller, Talia or here.

  • A good playlist
There are radios in planes and you can borrow earplugs, but I prefer my favorite hits. You should prepare a long playlist and check i fit works.

  • Mobile Charger & earplugs
When using your phone or tablet a lot and you’re on a flight it can happen that your battery runs low. You should buy a mobile charger. I am using the Charger by EzReal (16000mAh). I can charge both my phone and tablet at the same time. If you like to listen to music, you should use In-Earplugs. The Sennheiser CX are recommendable.

  • Drinks ‘n Food

You will get food on board, but if you’re picky, you should take your own things.

  • Snacks
I always take 1-2 chocolate bars with me. For example Corny Müsliriegel, student food, something salty like pistaccios.

  • Juices
I normally drink water, the more it sparkles, the better. I avoid carbonated drinks when I’m flying though. So I always take a little 100ml bottle of juice with me. You can also buy bigger bottles in the duty free shop.

  • Energie Boost
In case your energy runs low, you should eat some dextrose.

  • Chewing Gum
Whoever had to take a plane having a cold knows how unpleasant the air pressure can be. A good trick: Have some chewing gum or candy ready.

  • Freshness Boost

If you’re on the go for a long time, you can use these products to feel fresher.

  • Eyecreme & Camouflage Creme
After a long flight I usually look really crappy. My eyes are sore. I’m using my Eye-Roll-On Stick by Clinique, Eye-Patches and my Camouflage Creme. I use the Roll-On-Stick or the eyepatches first. Afterwards I’m washing my face and I’m applying my Camouflage crème to look fresher.

  • Oral Hygiene Set & Lip Conditioner
I always pack a travel tooth brush in my handbag. I use the Set by Elmex.

  • Disinfection & Wet wipes
I always have these products on hand – not only when travelling. I don’t want to get in touch with bacteria too much and get the flu while travelling. I use Sterillium and wet wipes by Sagrotan.

  • Deodorant & Perfume
For me and for others! I wish everyone would use more deodorant. I like the Travel-Deo by CD the most. You can buy it at Bipa or DM. My travel perfume is D&G The One.

  • Panties
I always take an extra pair of underwear with me. It feels better after a 20 hours flight to change.
