Here is my first blogpost about my Santorini trip. Some of you might have seen that I visited on Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat. This vacation was so wonderful. In this blog post, I want to tell you about our lodging in Oia. There will be posts about Oia, Fira, and the costs. If I forgot anything, just post a comment. :-)

» Das Hotel: Location, Catering & More Informationen

We spent two nnights in an apartment/villa in Oia. Some of you might know that place. It’s the most famous place on Santorini and since it is so well known and popular, it’s really expensive. It doesn’t matter in which hotel or apartment you’ll stay, it will be very expensive. Why? Because of the view. If you compare the hotel rooms on the other half of the island you’ll see that you’re paying for the view.

Our hotel is in the center of Oia and after a couple of steps, we were at the promenade. There are tons of shops and restaurants. From our room it was not far to an observation deck, where you can take great pictures. The Amaya Villas have five different room types. There’s also a room with a windmill. We had the Castro Villa in which 7 people can stay. It was the only free room available.

If you come to Santorini and you can’t to book a hotel at the Caldera, you should write down the phone number of your hotel, because it’s hard to find and you won’t be able to drag all your luggage up the stairs. After we found a place to park, we called the reception and the staff came to help us. You won’t be the first one to ask.

» The Room: The Castro Villa

The apartment was very well equipped. There were 3 bedrooms, a bath, a living room and a dining room with a kitchen unit and an eating unit plus fridge, stove, toaster, kettle  – everything I need in the kitchen. There was a coffee machine with a lot of packets as well. Since we only stayed 2 nights in Oia, we got up very early to have breakfast in a café. In this city there are a lot of cafés and restaurants next to each other. You don’t have to worry about a breakfast location :-)

We slept wonderfulyl. The bathroom was sufficient for us – although it was a little tiny. If you book  for 5 or 7 people, it might be too tiny. We also had a heated outdoor pool on the balcony, but the water was way too cold in comparison to the Sophia Luxury Suite. That was too bad. But luckily the balcony was very big, so we enjoyed the view. All in all we were happy and we can recommend the Amaya Selection of Villas Santorini!
