Next Stop: Oriental Residence Bangkok

After the first two days in Bangkok, it was time for us to move to a new place. We moved from the turbulent, typical cheap shopping district in Pratunam into our new hotel, the Oriental Residence Bangkok. It’s located in the luxury district of Bangkok and is therefore completely different to our first hotel. Also here I took a ton of pictures for you, so you can get a good idea of what it looks like.

Luckily, we were able to check in at 10 a.m. The entrance hall of the hotel is designed in bright marble and the furniture features perfectly fitting pastel colours. It’s perfect for all the Instagrammers out there, as it is the perfect picture backdrop. After a lovely chat with Joy from the reception, we finally set foot into our incredible Grand Deluxe room.

Many thanks to the hotel manager and the team from the Oriental Residence Bangkok for the wonderful accommodation, great time and cooperation! The opinion which I represent is of course 100% my own.

» The RoomGrand Deluxe

Some of you might have seen the room tour on my Snapchat account. The Grand Deluxe room would be the perfect city apartment! So stylishly furnished, I wish I could move in. Next to an incredibly pretty kitchen with all the necessities for self-service there also was an enormous couch with dining table. We even cooked for ourselves one time – or rather, warmed up the noodle soup we bought at the market ;) There was also a toaster, a coffee machine, a stove and a fridge. Additionally, the kitchen includes dishes, a blender and a kitchen scale.

The king size bed was so comfortable and soft! I slept like a baby. The darkening curtains made sleeping in easy for us and the bedside tables had a folder with a pillow-menu. That means you could order a pillow with essential oils from the room service. What an extremely cute idea, don’t you think? Our bathroom shone with white marble. Of course, there was also a big rainforest shower and bathtub to relax. That was absolutely perfect, because after long walks through the city we could put our feet into the hot water and enjoy the breathtaking view from our bathroom window. It couldn’t have been more perfect!

» The Breakfast: Café Claire

The hotel breakfast in the Oriental Residence Bangkok was held in the Café Claire, which is designed in a rather French style. It totally reminded me of the AuGust in the Widder Hotel in Zürich. It is truly beautiful breakfast café, but sadly too small. Once the breakfast area was full it got too loud. But we were always pretty early, so it didn’t bother us that much.

Next to the big buffet they also offered a to-order menu. Egg Benedict, scrambled eggs, waffles and pancakes were amongst the things to choose from. I decided to go for a chocolate crepe and Manuel had scrambled eggs with hash browns, bacon and asparagus! Mmm, delicious! All the food from the breakfast buffet and menu were absolutely tasty.

» The Hotel: Fitnesscenter and Pool

Okay, I have to admit that I thought our first hotel had an amazing view but the Oriental Residence Bangkok surprised us with a breathtaking view over Lumphini park. Thanks to the glass walls, it was possible to watch the city from above while you were in the pool. The pool was partly covered by a roof and partly in the open. Most people, however, were swimming in the free area to get some sun. In the shade next to the pool you could relax in cozy private Pavilions. And if that wasn’t private enough, there was also the possibility of hiding in one of the super cute hanging “bird’s nests”. So cool – I definitely need something like that for my garden!
