What to Pack: Ski Holiday in the Mountains

Packing luggage for a Ski Holiday or a holiday in the snowy mountains is not really easy. I don’t know what to bring with me and winter clothes are really heavy. You often bring very heavy luggage, but that’s not neccesary. I listed a packing list that you shouldn’t forget, so that you don’t bring the wrong things. There will be an extra document with a packing list, which you can download for free.

  • Quality Thermal Underwear

My last winter holiday was a while ago, but I can still remember how it went by. The car was so fully packed, that you couldn’t see through. We used to bring tons of clothes. Today’s different. With thermal underwear you won’t need to wear anything else under your ski clothes, because it will be enough. This is my first tip: bring good, quality thermal underwear. Even if it’s more expensive – you will see how much that helps. Another tip: those who always freeze should try angora underwear. It will be really warm!

  • Rent Ski Gear

I’m the type that rents my equipment on location. For a winter sport holiday once a year, I wouldn’t buy equipment. In every Ski site, you can rent skis, shoes and all the supplies at moderate prices. Just try it, you will see how comfy and easy it is.

  • Sunscreen

A lot of people forget the sunscreen! Sunshine and snow is harmful for your skin. Additionally, there is the wind and the cold to consider. Under these extreme conditions, you really have to care for your skin. Don’t forget your sunscreen. And your lip balm. Also take your sunglasses to protect your eyes from the sun.

  • Waterproof Shoes

Waterproof shoes are just as important as thermal underwear. The streets are icy or covered in snow and they can be very slippery and dangerous. It’s important that the shoes are comfortable, warm, and broken in. Blisters on your feet are the last thing you’d need. Check that the shoes have grips- when the shoes only look good, they won’t help you if it’s slippery.

  • First Aid Kit

If you’re driving to the slopes, don’t forget your first aid kid. Before departing, check if everything is in your car, what you would need in case of an accident, a traffic jam, or winter conditions. This could include snow chains, working gloves, ice scrapers, anti ice spray, hand brush, safety vest, maps and your navigation system.
