What does a Thailand holiday cost? This kind of post is a fixed part of my blog now. I’ll show you the costs of my trip – incl. the collaborations. I think there are a lot of people wondering about the costs on a trip. That’s why I’m blogging about it. You can read more about it »HERE. I wrote about Iceland, Rome and Thailand in 2014. We booked the flight from Vienna to Bangkok on the 09th of September of 2015 – 4 months in advance. I normally book earlier, but KLM launched the Dream Deals Campaign. Here are our flight’s details.
- Vienna – Amsterdam
- Amsterdam – Bangkok
- Bangkok – Paris
- Paris – Vienna
We paid 970,14 Euro in total plus seat reservations for 60 Euro, which means we paid 1030,14 Euro, 515,07 per person. I already mentioned it on my Social Media Accounts and in other blog posts (here and here).
Thailand Domestic Flight: We were 4 nights in Bangkok and than left for Koh Samui to visit Koh Phangan and Koh Tao. Here are our flight details.

I can only tell you the price for one ticket, because I had a collaboration with Bangkok Airways and my ticket was for free. Manuel’s Ticket was about 230 EURO, because we booked it very late. If you book it early it will cost about 100 to 120 EUR.

Bangkok: As you know we stayed 4 Nights in Bangkok. Our hotel rooms were part of a collaboration as well. The Amari Watergate (my review is here) and the Oriental Residence Bangkok (my review is here) invited me.

Koh Phangan: We travelled from Koh Samui to Koh Phangan by speed boat. We didn’t have to pay anything for the speed boat, because it was part of the collaboration with the Panviman Resort (my review is here). If you book a room in the Panviman the transport by boat will be included.

We stayed 4 nights in the Panviman. We wanted to go to Koh Tao directly, but when the Panviman invited us, we stayed there first. We only paid 2 nights.

Koh Tao: Afterwards we left for Koh Tao. You can find the costs for the ferry below. We stayed in the Haad Tien Beach Resort for 6 nights (find my review here)

We found a great deal on Booking.com and only paid 35%! I still can NOT recommend the hotel. It was too expensive and the Service was not really good.

Total Prices: 2.119 Euro
Price per person: 1.059 Euro
Price per night (15x): 70 Euro
Important:
1. Every hotel had breakfast included. Do not book a hotel with half board or full board in Thailand!
2. We stayed in exclusive hotels. Please don’t think this is normal there. I will link a couple of hotels below. I informed myself and talked to travel bloggers and friends who had already been to Koh Tao and Koh Phangan. You can at least save half the price.
Bangkok: You have to pay about 300 Bath ~ 7,50 Euro to the hotel.
Bangkok Taxis, TukTuk, Boat & Skytrain: We took the cab and other public transportation systems a couple of times. I’ve posted about public transport »HERE. We paid about 1750 Bath (~44 EUR) in total.

Koh Phangan: In our hotel there was a free TukTuk Service. We didn’t pay anything extra. The TukTuk brings you to the hotel. Next to the hotel there is a little street which leads to a village, where you can find a lot of places to eat.
We only had to pay the transport from Koh Phangan to Koh Tao. It costs 1.200 Bath (30 EUR à total 60 EUR) per person.

Koh Tao: We were in the Haad Tien Beach Resort (read my review here) for 6 nights. We had to return to Samui to get to the airport. The ticket with the Lomprayah High Speed Ferry costs 600 Bath per person – in total 1.200 Bath ~ 60 Euro. We bought the tickets in the hotel.

Total price for the transport: 5650 Bath = 142 Euro
Price per Person: 2825 Bath = 71 Euro
I didn’t write down every price from the street food stall, so I calculated per day. We had breakfast in the hotel and we ate outside for dinner every day. We paid about 8-11 Euro per day incl. dinner for 2 people (2 main dishes + cocktails) and snacks and drinks just like fresh coconuts or roti pancakes for 2.

Price per person: 75 Euro
As you can see the food in Thailand is really cheap and yummy.
We didn’t do many trips. Most Attractions we visited were free (weekend market, Lumpini Park, …).

Total costs for 2 people: 4.300 Bath = 108 EUR
Price per person: 2.150 Bath = 54 Euro
As you can see the hotels were expensive for Thailand. Since we wanted a great hotel and good service, we wanted to book luxury hotels instead of normal ones. If you’re in Thailand with friends, I’d tend to book normal bungalows. I hope you will find a good hotel.
